CRICKET NEWS:

Does your child need something to do this summer? Register your child to come to the Club Cricket Camp between the 28th July and 22nd August. Each session is £5 and will take place at Havant Park between 10am and 1pm. If you are interested, email havantcricketcoaching@hotmail.com with the Name, Age and Anticipated Attendance of your child or children!

Havant play Lymington at Lymington in the T20 Semi Final on Sunday 3rd August for a place in the Ageas Bowl final!

Havant Under 9's surpassed expectations finishing joint 3rd of 32 teams in the Zooters competition at the Ageas bowl. In the group games Havant beat Sway by 18 runs with a wicket maiden from Toby Masson and 13 runs from Mondo Hart. Havant then got a rude awakening losing by 32 runs to Pylewell. Against Cove B Jack Lee followed up his 10 runs in the previous game with 16 more and with contributions from Ben Keevil, Archie Pullen and Harry Foster Havant were victorious by 47 runs. In the last 16 Havant beat Hook & Newham who had topped their group by 6 runs. Havant bowled only 2 wides in the game & batting got off to a great start with jack Osbourne & Matthew Hayward scoring 17 in Partnership. Havant got level before the last pair with James Livermore smashing 16 from 3 balls faced. Archie Pullen & Harry Foster protected their wickets to confirm the win. Havant progressed to the semi finals beating cove A by 9 runs in another tense game. James Livermore, Matthew Hayward, & Jake Jackson-Cole all getting double figures to guide havant past the 246 target. Havant took 6 wickets in the Cove innings with 2 wickets for Ben Keevil and fine catches by Jack Lee & Archie Pullen. The semi final we lost to eventual runners up St Cross. Chasing a big 293, total that would have been more but for wickets with good bowling from Jake Jackson-Cole Jack Osbourne & Mondo Hart, Havant lost wickets swinging hard for boundaries. taking lots of risks we lost wickets resulting in a 77 run loss. Playing at a test ground in the sunshine, with great support from all the parents, did Havant proud. The day was topped off with signatures and photos with Hampshire player Liam Dawson.   

Wednesday 18th June was a special day for Havant Cricket Club, as our Chance to Shine scheme was bolstered by the support of Charlotte Edwards and Heather Knight of England. The pair joined coaches Ron Hodgson, Craig Stainton, Rohan Kandiah and Daniel Oliver for an afternoon of coaching at a variety of local schools. The day culminated at St.John's School with Peter Hopson welcoming the team with 39 enthusiastic youngsters.
